CM Shinde Races to Ensure Safety of Maharashtra Students Amid Bangladesh Unrest

Measures include compiling lists of affected students, coordinating with central authorities, and forming a monitoring team.

In response to the civil unrest in Bangladesh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has urgently contacted the Ministry of External Affairs to assist students and expedite their safe return to India. 'The unrest in Bangladesh has raised questions about the safety of foreign nationals, especially students stranded in troubled areas there. Considering all this, Chief Minister Shinde has prioritized the safety of students from Maharashtra studying there,' stated an official release by the CMO.
CM Shinde has engaged with the Ministry of External Affairs to underscore the need for swift action given the severity of the situation in Bangladesh. He has requested comprehensive assistance for affected students, including ensuring their immediate safety, relocating them within Bangladesh if necessary, and expediting their repatriation to India.
A list of students from Maharashtra currently in Bangladesh has been compiled and provided to the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate immediate contact and assistance. The State government has also formed a monitoring team to stay in touch with central authorities and affected families. Coordination with the Indian mission in Bangladesh is ongoing to implement safety measures effectively.
'The safety of the students is the highest priority. All necessary measures are being taken for their safe return to their homeland,' CM Shinde stated. 'The State government firmly stands with the families of the affected students during this challenging time.' (ANI)
