India Leads Renewable Energy Efforts Among G20 Nations, Says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India has made significant strides in the renewable energy sector compared to other G20 nations. Speaking from the Red Fort on Independence Day, he emphasized India's commitment to self-reliance in energy and climate change mitigation, with a goal of 500 GW non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030.

India has outpaced other G20 countries in renewable energy advancements, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday.
From the historic Red Fort, during India's 78th Independence Day celebrations, Modi declared, ''India is striving for self-reliance in energy to tackle global climate change.'' He emphasized, ''Our pledge for renewable energy has seen us outperform other G20 nations.''
India's national climate plan aims to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based electricity by 2030. Currently, India boasts 446 GW of power generation capacity, with approximately 195 GW from non-fossil sources.
