Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, in partnership with the Parivartan Cell of Delhi Police, has launched a seven-day self-defense training program aimed at empowering female medical staff. This initiative comes in the wake of the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The training program seeks to equip over 600 female medical staff with vital self-defense techniques such as punches, elbow strikes, blocking, and eye attacks. It also covers methods to escape from hair and hand grips and the effective use of everyday items as improvised weapons. These comprehensive measures ensure participants can defend themselves in various situations.

Deepak Narang, Facility Director at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, expressed gratitude towards the Delhi Police for their cooperation. He stated, 'In today's times, every girl and woman must learn self-defense techniques. This program will provide our female staff with essential skills, boosting their confidence and preparedness to handle challenging situations.' Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northwest District Delhi, added, 'The program aims to enhance awareness among female medical staff. It helps build self-esteem and ensures they do not feel vulnerable.'

Meena further highlighted the importance of self-defense, stating that the initiative reflects the Delhi Police's commitment to ensuring the safety and empowerment of women in the city. 'The Parivartan Cell is dedicated to empowering female medical staff, making sure they feel secure and confident,' he said. (ANI)
