On Wednesday, members of the Bhartiya Janta Party's (BJP) Sikh Prakoshth gathered outside the residence of Congress Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, to protest against his remarks on the Sikh community made during his recent visit to the United States. BJP leader RP insisted that Gandhi issue a formal apology, accusing him of defaming India on foreign soil. 'Rahul Gandhi should apologize. He used the foreign land to defame India and misrepresented facts about Sikhs,' RP said, citing incorrect statements about their freedoms in India.

Supporting the protest, Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal filed a complaint with Home Minister Amit Shah, NIA Director General, and the Delhi Police Commissioner. Jindal condemned Gandhi's remarks, alleging no factual basis and accusing him of inciting minority communities for political mileage. 'Rahul Gandhi's statements in the US were misleading and aimed at instigating the Sikhs and other minorities. This is a disservice to the nation,' Jindal argued in a video statement released on Wednesday.

Gandhi, currently touring the US, addressed the Indian diaspora, stating that the ongoing struggle is about fundamental freedoms, including whether Sikhs can wear turbans and visit Gurdwaras in India. 'The fight is not about politics but about religious freedoms for all communities,' Gandhi said. In response, Jindal has called for stringent action, including the cancellation of Gandhi's passport, urging authorities to register a case against him for making 'false and inciteful statements.'
