The BJP's Assam wing has achieved a significant milestone by enrolling over 20 lakh new members in just nine days during their recent membership drive. This rapid uptake has been confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who announced the figures on Thursday.
Sarma highlighted that the party had already registered 20,43,796 new members in the state, a number that surpasses the total membership of 18 lakh recorded in 2019 within a span of one and a half months. 'We will continue this membership drive with even greater dedication,' Sarma affirmed.
The Chief Minister also noted that the drive, set to continue until September 25, initially aimed to exceed 18 lakh members and achieved this target ahead of schedule. In a meeting discussing the drive's progress, Sarma emphasized the success of the initiative, with 13 lakh people joining within the first week alone.
