In a heated exchange, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for comparing himself to Lakshman and Arvind Kejriwal to Lord Shri Ram. Poonawalla expressed dismay over Sisodia's remark, especially in light of the ongoing liquor scam allegations against him.
"It's unfortunate that someone involved in a liquor scam compares himself to Lord Shri Ram, Lakshman, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Arvind Kejriwal promised never to ally with Congress but later prioritized political gains, even contemplating a joint contest in Haryana elections with Congress," Poonawalla told ANI. He added that such leaders should not be compared to revered figures.
Escalating his criticism, Sisodia accused BJP of trying to create a rift between him and Kejriwal. "I have told them they are trying to separate Lakshman from Ram. No Ravana can break this bond," Sisodia said, emphasizing his 26-year-long friendship with Kejriwal. He claimed BJP made several attempts to divide them, including false court claims that Kejriwal had implicated him.
Poonawalla also highlighted contradictions in AAP's actions, noting that while the Delhi government banned firecrackers for Diwali, AAP workers celebrated with fireworks when a liquor scam suspect received conditional bail.
