Nepal Launches Nationwide Campaign to End Child Marriage

A movement titled 'Child Marriage Free Nepal' has been inaugurated in Kathmandu, drawing participation from over 100 delegates, including activists and civil society members, in the presence of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli.
The initiative is spearheaded by Nepal's Ministry for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, with collaboration from India's Just Right for Children and Nepal's Backward Society Education. It marks a regional step following India's similar campaign.
Nepal, holding the second-highest child marriage prevalence in South Asia, joins global efforts between December 2 and 8, where three continents came together for the pledge-taking ceremonies.
