Reintegration of Russia into Global Economy Hinges on Peace in Ukraine
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Russia would be reintegrated into the global economy and European energy system once a peace deal is achieved in Ukraine. This reintegration will greatly benefit the Hungarian economy. He remains a critic of EU sanctions against Russia.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban has expressed optimism about Russia's reintegration into the global economy and European energy systems post a peace agreement in Ukraine. Speaking on state radio, Orban, an ally of Donald Trump, highlighted the potential economic boost for Hungary once peace prevails.
Orban referenced phone calls between Trump and both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, indicating a mutual desire for peace. Trump's commitment to commencing discussions aimed at ending the war underlines the growing push for resolution in the region.
Since the onset of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, Orban has been a vocal opponent of EU-imposed sanctions against Russia. Hungary's heavy reliance on Russian energy sources, with 80-85% of its gas and significant crude oil sourced from Russia, underscores the country's vested interest in restoring ties.
