The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party after the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, labelling it as a sign of the 'bankruptcy' of the BJP's dual-engine government. The CPI(M), in a statement on its official website, condemned the decision, arguing that it underscores the BJP's inability to stabilize the region, which has been embroiled in conflict for two years.

The CPI(M) argued that the President's Rule was not enacted for the benefit of Manipur's citizens, but as a tactical delay to resolve internal disputes within the ruling coalition. The resignation of Manipur's Chief Minister, the party noted, stemmed from an investigation scrutinizing his alleged sectarian actions while under BJP-RSS support.

The central leadership's reluctance to act, highlighted by the Prime Minister's absence from the troubled state, has only aggravated the situation, according to the CPI(M). The party stressed that the President's Rule is not a long-term solution and urged the central government to engage in meaningful negotiations with various community representatives to restore peace and democratic rights in the region.
