In a significant move towards empowering Mizoram's rural economy, the NABARD Mizoram Regional Office organized the State Credit Seminar in Aizawl on Friday. The event, graced by Chief Minister Lalduhoma and other notable dignitaries, marked the release of the State Focus Paper 2025-26.
At the seminar, Pankaja Borah of NABARD emphasized the vital role of credit in accelerating rural infrastructure and economic growth. She stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among banks and governmental bodies to enhance lending across sectors, aimed at stimulating employment and increasing farmers' incomes.
RBI's representative, T Lhungdim, highlighted the recent policy changes, including the increase in collateral-free loan limits. These initiatives are expected to bolster financial inclusivity and investment in agriculture, especially benefiting small-scale farmers. Meanwhile, other speakers called for improvements in food processing infrastructure to further support the state's agrarian community.
