The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has confirmed that electricity tariffs will remain the same for the financial year 2025-26, aligning with a vital electoral commitment. This announcement was encapsulated in the Retail Supply Tariff (RST) order unveiled by the Commission on Friday.
Noteworthy among the reforms is the introduction of time-of-day tariffs for commercial and industrial users exceeding 10 KW. This initiative offers a rebate of 50 paise per unit, aiming to optimize electricity consumption and enable users to benefit from reduced daytime power rates. This strategic shift is set to enhance customer experience without incurring higher costs.
To support the mobility sector, EV charging stations will receive a power supply at the LT voltage level with stable tariffs. The state government has pledged to cover a revenue shortfall of Rs 12,632 crore to maintain current tariff levels. Furthermore, a new scheme allows domestic consumers to regularize additional loads at half the usual development charges from March 1 to June 30, 2025. This one-time scheme mandates public awareness and progress reports to ensure efficient execution by DISCOMs.
