Assam Gears Up for 'Jhumoir Binandini', Celebrating 200 Years of Tea Industry

Preparations are in full swing at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati, for the highly anticipated 'Jhumoir Binandini' event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the gala, which marks 200 years of the Assam Tea Industry and features a dazzling performance by over 8,000 artists from tea garden areas.
Assam's Cultural Affairs Minister, Bimal Bora, announced the mega event, highlighting that 5,399 female dancers, 2,175 male dancers, and 2,074 musicians will showcase the traditional Jhumoir dance on February 24. The event, organized by the Assam government, forms part of the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' initiative, aiming to bolster cultural heritage and attract investment.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently convened with cabinet colleagues to review preparations, underscoring the need for seamless arrangements. Minister Ashok Singhal expressed pride in hosting the Prime Minister and various dignitaries for this cultural celebration, expected to be the largest and most splendid yet.
