Members of the Sikh community gathered outside the court on Tuesday, protesting and calling for the death penalty for Sajjan Kumar ahead of his sentencing in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. Led by Sikh leader Gurlad Singh, the protesters expressed their need for justice, citing the long-delayed judicial process.

During the demonstration, Gurlad Singh highlighted the tragic events that occurred over 40 years ago, asserting that justice delayed is indeed justice denied. Singh urged the court to impose the maximum sentence on Kumar, labeling the 1984 riots as a premeditated genocide carried out by the Congress leadership.

The sentencing is set for 2 PM today by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja. The prosecution team, spearheaded by the CBI, is adamant about seeking the death penalty, arguing that Kumar's acts constitute genocide. They believe life imprisonment is insufficient given the gravity of the crimes, which claimed thousands of lives after Indira Gandhi's assassination.
