BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh launched a scathing attack on DMK and the INDIA bloc on Tuesday, criticizing their stance on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. According to Chugh, the NEP, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, is pioneering for its emphasis on imparting education in the mother tongue.
Chugh argued that the policy's mother tongue focus ensures quality education and accused DMK and its allies of spreading misinformation due to political insecurities. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, at an official event in Chengalpattu, categorically rejected the NEP, denouncing comments made by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Stalin branded Pradhan's parliamentary remarks as 'rude,' alleging coercion over the proposed allocation of Rs 2000 crores conditional on implementing the three-language policy. He criticized the NEP as a 'hazardous scheme' undermining Tamil education, privatising learning, and blending religion with academics. Stalin praised Tamil Nadu MPs' objection to the policy.
