The Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra's legislative council, Ambadas Danve, has raised the alarm over the state's financial management, claiming each citizen now shoulders a debt burden of Rs 82,000 due to mismanagement by the Mahayuti government.
During a debate following Finance Minister Ajit Pawar's presentation of the Budget 2025-26, Danve criticized the decision to reduce capital expenditure from 13% to 11%, citing it as a blow to long-term growth prospects.
He further alleged uneven distribution of GST rebates by the Union government and highlighted Maharashtra's slip to fifth place in GDP growth, pressing concerns about public welfare being overshadowed by debt obligations.
