Amid growing controversy, Mumbai's Khar Police have summoned popular stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra. The summon requires Kamra to appear before the investigating officer at 11 am, though he is reportedly not in Mumbai at present.
The FIR registered by the MIDC police, now in Khar police's hands, stems from Kamra's remarks on Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during his latest comedic performance. The event triggered significant backlash, including acts of vandalism at the venue by Shiv Sena activists.
Adding to the fracas, Kamra released a defiant statement refusing to apologize and highlighting the venue's irrelevance to his personal views. He emphasized his readiness to collaborate with legal authorities but questioned the balance in legal actions against vandalists.
