In a recent interview, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has voiced sharp criticism against the opposition for allegedly spreading false narratives about the BJP's stance on Masjids and Waqf properties. Adityanath questioned the opposition's motives, suggesting they aim to exploit Waqf lands and fail to implement genuine welfare activities using these properties.

Adityanath accused certain individuals of personal profiteering through the illegal sale of Waqf properties, resulting in disputes due to multiple conflicting claims. He emphasized that the BJP's objectives are not about acquiring Masjids but liberating Waqf properties from misuse while ensuring they serve the welfare of the Muslim community. The BJP advocates for transparency and accountability concerning Waqf properties.

The Chief Minister expressed his endorsement of proposed Waqf legislation aimed at improving management and accountability. However, he warned of potential repercussions for those settled on Waqf lands. AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi opposed the bill, viewing it as an unconstitutional move by the government aiming to seize Muslim holdings.
