Bihar's Clean Energy Leap: Hindustan Power's Bold Battery Storage Project

In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Hindustan Power has received a Letter of Intent to establish a 120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System in Bihar. This initiative aims to enhance the state's power stability and is set for completion within 18 months.

The project, part of a larger 500 MWh battery storage strategy approved by the Central government, will be implemented via tariff-based competitive bidding. It is structured on a BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, Transfer) basis, ensuring efficiency and long-term sustainability in power management.

Chairman Ratul Puri emphasized the importance of this project in aligning with Bihar's clean energy ambitions. The system will be deployed at three critical grid substations: Bhagalpur, Udakishanganj, and Sitamarhi, each facilitating 40 MWh capacity. This venture underscores Hindustan Power's commitment to innovative technology and environmental responsibility.
