Man Arrested for Filming and Provoking Communal Discord in Hyderabad

A 24-year-old man in Hyderabad has been arrested for allegedly assaulting two individuals, filming the incident, and distributing the video online to incite communal tensions. A 24-year-old man, Mohammed Raheel, was apprehended by Saifabad Police in Hyderabad for allegedly assaulting two people and circulating a video of the incident to incite communal tension, according to police reports.

The incident came to public attention when a video showing the harassment of two individuals in a public setting was widely shared on social media. Authorities, led by DCP Hyderabad (Central Zone) K Shilpavalli, stated that the video was intentionally disseminated to provoke communal sentiments, breach privacy, and foster divisive narratives. The accused has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.

Police disclosed that the accused recorded the individuals while questioning a woman for being with a man from a different faith, using abusive language, and resorting to physical violence. Reports reveal he threatened them, confiscated a helmet, and aimed to injure one of the victims. The pair escaped on their bike, pursued by the accused, who continued to video them, heightening their distress. Investigations are currently ongoing.
