In a groundbreaking move, state-owned SECI has achieved a record low bid of Rs 55.75 per kilogram in its first-ever auction to procure green ammonia, as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission's SIGHT programme, as reported by an official statement.

The Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, backed by the government, includes dual financial incentive structures to spur domestic electrolyser production and green hydrogen manufacturing, with a budget allocation of Rs 17,490 crore extending until 2029-30.

Orchestrated by MNRE, the first auction is projected to supply 75,000 metric tonnes per annum of green ammonia to Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, Odisha. As the first among 13 planned auctions, it indicates substantial investor and developer confidence in India's path towards a green energy transition.
