Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a scathing attack on the Opposition during the Assembly session on Wednesday, accusing the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of rampant corruption and selling jobs. Sukhu declared that his government has effectively ended such corrupt practices and is committed to ensuring transparent employment opportunities.
Sukhu emphasized that during the BJP's regime, corruption reached its peak with jobs allegedly being sold. In contrast, the current administration, he said, prioritizes a fair recruitment process, particularly in education and various departments. He highlighted that the change in contractual hiring involves rebranding such positions as 'job trainee' appointments.
The Chief Minister referenced unfulfilled promises by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of two crore jobs and asserted that the Congress is on track to deliver its commitment of five lakh jobs within five years. He also announced the creation of the Overseas Employment Department to facilitate international work opportunities for Himachal's youth.
Sukhu detailed several employment accomplishments under his leadership, including the appointment of thousands of youth. The government has facilitated the hiring of over 3,000 teachers and various technical staff, among others. Ongoing recruitment efforts include hundreds of positions for medical officers, police constables, and other key roles.
He also mentioned innovative roles like 'Rogi Mitra' and 'Pashu Mitra' and the provision of 34,000 employment opportunities last year across government and private sectors. Sukhu affirmed a strong focus on self-employment and collaborations with international envoys to boost overseas job placements.
Turning his attention to political maneuvers, Sukhu accused the BJP of exploiting the unemployment issue for political gain. He claimed the BJP is divided and burdened with internal leadership challenges, while asserting that his government maintains a merit-based and transparent recruitment process, distancing itself from past scandals.
The Chief Minister concluded by affirming the government's role as a supportive entity for the youth, promising the creation of abundant job opportunities in the coming year. (ANI)
