In a significant literary event at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla unveiled 'Ashadh Ka Pratham Diwas'. Penned by Prithi Pal Singh, the book offers a poetic Hindi translation of the timeless 'Meghadootam' by Mahakavi Kalidasa, crafted to resonate with modern readers, particularly the younger generation.

The book, featuring a foreword by Shanta Kumar and a cover by Padma Shri awardee Vijay Sharma, was praised by the Governor for its contribution to Indian literature and culture. Shukla remarked on the remarkable achievement of presenting Kalidasa's classic in a way that revives his creative genius and provides a novel perspective for today's audience.

Author Prithi Pal Singh shared that the book is a product of his extensive literary engagement, hoping it evokes the same aesthetic delight as Kalidasa's original masterpiece. Concurrently, the Governor launched 'Dairon Se Pare', an anthology edited by Kunwar Dinesh Singh that includes 67 works by eleven acclaimed contemporary poets, enriching India's cultural fabric.
