Becle's Profit Surges Amidst Tequila Boom: A Dramatic Leap
Mexico's Becle, the world's largest tequila producer, reported a near fivefold increase in third-quarter profit due to sales growth outside the U.S. and Canada. Despite global spirits volatility, profits for July-September reached 4.13 billion pesos ($225 million), aided by a stronger peso and increased sales volumes.
In a surprising financial performance, Mexico's Becle, recognized as the leading global tequila producer, announced an impressive near fivefold increase in its third-quarter profit. This achievement defied market forecasts, primarily propelled by robust sales growth observed in all regions except the United States and Canada.
Becle, well-known for its Jose Cuervo family tequilas and diverse portfolio of spirits, revealed a bolstered financial standing despite ongoing challenges in the global spirits industry. The company recorded a remarkable profit of 4.13 billion pesos ($225 million) for the period from July through September, significantly outpacing analyst expectations set at 1.27 billion.
Contributing to Becle's fiscal success was a stronger Mexican peso which mitigated its dollar-denominated debt exposure. The company saw a 20% increase in sales volumes across Mexico and internationally, although sales declined by 6% in its primary markets of the U.S. and Canada, where it typically garners 60% of its revenue.
