The Department of Consumer Affairs, in partnership with MyGov and the Chair on Consumer Law at National Law University Delhi, has unveiled a Logo Design Competition to engage the public in the 'Empowering Consumers through Repairability Index' initiative. This project seeks innovative logo designs from across India to symbolise the Right to Repair initiative, a crucial move towards elevated consumer empowerment and reduced e-waste through informed product choices.
Originally designed to highlight product Repairability Index ratings, the winning logo will illustrate the core principles of a circular economy, serving as a certification mark. This endeavour is a crucial step in visually representing India's shift towards responsible consumption and consumer empowerment through the Repairability Index Framework, which covers sectors like mobile devices, automobiles, and farming equipment.
The Repairability Index promotes sustainable consumption and facilitates the longevity and recyclability of products. As part of the LiFE movement, it aims to establish true consumer ownership and align trade with repair ecosystems. A Right to Repair Portal was initiated to further these objectives, building a bridge between consumers, manufacturers, and repair professionals. Indian citizens aged 16 and above are encouraged to participate before the deadline.
