The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has addressed claims suggesting an advisory was issued to financial institutions to cease funding renewable energy projects. The MNRE clarified these assertions were unfounded, reaffirming its commitment to advancing India's renewable energy sector.
In light of these developments, the MNRE has communicated present domestic capacities in solar PV manufacturing to financial bodies, urging them to evaluate financing proposals wisely. This initiative aligns with India's goal to bolster self-reliance in solar PV production while playing a pivotal role in the global market.
India's renewable energy achievements are noteworthy, with non-fossil fuel sources composing half of its installed capacity as of October 2025. The country's progression is underscored by strategic initiatives like the PLI Scheme for High Efficiency Solar PV Modules, aiding the expansion of solar module production capacity.
