Tata Power has successfully commissioned the Koteshwar-Rishikesh transmission line, it announced on Tuesday. This strategic development bolsters North India's grid with an additional 1,000 MW of hydropower from the Tehri-Koteshwar complex in Uttarakhand, a significant boost for clean energy in the region.
The transmission line will facilitate the delivery of renewable energy not only within Uttarakhand but also to Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Delhi. This is a critical step towards enhanced regional energy security and improved grid reliability.
Constructed across the demanding landscapes of the Himalayan terrain in the New Tehri and Dehradun districts, the line reaches altitudes beyond 1,816 meters. The project was carried out by NRSS XXXVI Transmission Ltd, acquired by Resurgent Power Ventures Pte Limited, a collaboration between Tata Power, ICICI Bank, and global investors.
