Kyivstar Powers Up: Acquires Solar Company Amid Energy Uncertainty
Ukraine's Kyivstar has acquired solar company Sunvin 11 to enhance energy resilience amidst Russian attacks on power infrastructure. In a strategic move to combat energy challenges, Ukraine's leading mobile operator Kyivstar has acquired solar company Sunvin 11. The acquisition aims to bolster the company's energy resources amid ongoing Russian assaults on Ukraine's power infrastructure.
Kyivstar has been proactive in expanding its backup power options and connectivity solutions, crucial during this time of instability. The mobile giant, alongside its telecom services, also offers digital healthcare and entertainment. Recently, it began providing Starlink's direct-to-cell SMS service, successfully mitigating service interruptions for its customers.
The acquisition, valued at 347.6 million hryvnias ($8.2 million), includes Sunvin 11's 12.9-megawatt solar plant in the Zhytomyr region. The plant is set to contribute 4% of Kyivstar's annual energy consumption, feeding into Ukraine's unified energy system. Such strategic investments reflect Kyivstar's long-term vision for sustainable growth and service continuity in challenging times.
