The Supreme Court has granted the Delhi government the authority to take action against vehicle owners using vehicles that fall below the BS IV emission standard in the National Capital Region (NCR). This measure aims to balance environmental preservation with vehicle owner rights, targeting more polluting vehicles in the region.

In another ruling, the Supreme Court transferred monitoring responsibilities for the investigation into the rape of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata to the Calcutta High Court. Justices M.M. Sundresh and Satish Chandra Sharma emphasized the High Court's capacity to handle the case as it is already under their supervision.

The Supreme Court further noted that the Calcutta High Court, due to its constitutional authority, is well-suited to manage the investigation and related prosecutions. This comes after Senior Advocate Karuna Nundy requested the CBI's investigation status report for the victim's parents. The Solicitor General assured the High Court's competence in managing National Task Force issues linked to the case.
