The Telangana Police have brought to light allegations against the Gram Panchayat governing body in Yacharam village, Rangareddy district, accused of involvement in the alleged mass killing of nearly 100 stray dogs. The investigation emerged from a complaint by members of the Stray Animal Foundation.

An official probe is now underway to delve deeper into these serious allegations. Earlier this month, Shayampet Police registered an FIR against several individuals, including the Shayampet sarpanch, following accusations of orchestrating the killing of 300 stray dogs in Shayampet and Arepally villages.

As per the FIR, it is alleged that officials hired individuals to administer poisonous injections to the dogs. Police cited the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant sections against such heinous activities. Inspector P Ranjith Rao stated the situation is under scrutiny, with post-mortem examinations being conducted and residents reporting incidents of dog bites and infections.
