In a significant development, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived at the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning, amidst ongoing controversies surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.

The apex court is set to hear matters related to voter list discrepancies in both West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, leading to heightened security measures at the court premises. Mamata Banerjee, joined by key members of the Trinamool Congress, including MP Abhishek Banerjee, made her way to the capital for this crucial hearing.

Previously, the Supreme Court had mandated the Election Commission of India to publicly disclose the names on the "Logical Discrepancy" list, a directive stemming from challenges facing the SIR process in Tamil Nadu. The court underscored the need for transparency and procedural correctness, instructing local officials to facilitate voters in addressing discrepancies within a specified timeframe.
