Assam Rifles and DRI Take Down Major Drug Trafficking Operations

In a significant breakthrough, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized a massive haul of Yaba tablets in a major anti-narcotics operation at Gen A. Mungiakami. Official reports confirmed that approximately 4,50,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 45 crore were confiscated from a TATA truck during the operation. One individual has been detained and handed over to the DRI for further inquiries.

In another operation, Assam Rifles and the DRI, acting on intelligence regarding drug trafficking in Khowai district, intercepted a shipment of 1,60,000 Yaba tablets via NH 8. The consignment, worth Rs 16 crore, was being transported in a Tata truck by a resident of Karimganj, Assam. The truck was impounded, and investigations are ongoing.

With ongoing operations targeting narcotics networks, Assam Rifles remains at the forefront of anti-drug initiatives. Ahead of Republic Day, a recent operation in Champhai district, Mizoram, led to the seizure of 2.2 kg of Methamphetamine tablets. The suspect, identified as Lalhmangaihzuala, was apprehended and handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department for further legal procedures. (ANI)
