In a significant political shift, more than 300 members formerly aligned with the AIADMK have officially joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Panaiyur, near Chennai. They attribute the change to a lack of effective public service opportunities under AIADMK leadership.
The induction, held at TVK's party headquarters, witnessed prominent former AIADMK figures such as ex-Minister Vellamandi Natarajan, MLA Natraj, and others pledging allegiance to the ruling TVK. The defection was presided over by TVK General Secretary N Anand, highlighting a strategic gain for the ruling party.
These developments reflect a growing confidence in TVK, helmed by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. Former AIADMK senior leader Udumalai Radhakrishnan cited a disillusionment with AIADMK’s direction post-J Jayalalithaa, emphasizing TVK's anti-corruption stance. The party anticipates further defections, projecting a significant realignment in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
