West Bengal Implements Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, Boosting Healthcare Access
West Bengal has joined 35 other Indian states in implementing the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY health scheme. In a significant move towards universal health coverage, West Bengal has become the 36th State/Union Territory in India to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), according to a government release.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this landmark initiative was signed by officials from the National Health Authority and the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal. The ceremony was graced by several prominent leaders and dignitaries, including Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
This development is expected to provide cashless and seamless healthcare access to over 1.24 crore families in West Bengal. The Union Health Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the AB PM-JAY scheme in reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and offering financial protection to at-risk populations across India.
