Facing a numbers gap in Jharkhand, BJP supports independent candidate Parimal Nathwani for the Rajya Sabha elections. In a strategic move driven by lack of sufficient legislative support, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to endorse independent candidate Parimal Nathwani in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections for Jharkhand. Failing to muster enough support to secure a seat with its alliance partners, the BJP found Nathwani's historical political alliances and proven track record appealing.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo revealed to ANI that despite earnest efforts to nominate a party member, the BJP could not reach the required 28-seat majority, falling short by four even with its allies. Thus, the party opted to support Nathwani, whose past Rajya Sabha terms were also backed by Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), highlighting his bipartisan appeal.
This Rajya Sabha election in Jharkhand promises to be a fascinating contest with three candidates vying for two seats. While the ruling JMM and Congress have fielded Baidyanath Ram and Pranav Jha respectively, Nathwani's campaign centers on his past accomplishments. The election, scheduled for June 18, spans multiple states, reflecting the national political tapestry.
