The ongoing turmoil in Bangladesh has led to a significant decline in the number of patients coming for treatment to Kolkata's hospitals, officials revealed on Tuesday.

The decrease has been consistent over the last month, with the unrest taking a violent turn, they noted. Peerless Hospital CEO Sudipta Mitra informed PTI that the number of Bangladeshi patients has dropped from over 180 daily to just 84.

Other hospitals like Manipal Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, and Apollo have observed similar trends. A senior official at Manipal Hospitals mentioned that their monthly footfall from Bangladesh has reduced from 2,300 to just 1,500 in the last month. The situation is expected to persist until normalcy returns, officials indicated.
