The Mizoram government is on the verge of securing a USD 108 million loan from the Asian Development Bank, aimed at enhancing its public healthcare system, according to Health Minister Lalrinpuii.
The financial boost, with 90% of the loan repayable by the central government, is part of the 'Supporting Public Healthcare System Strengthening to Achieve Universal Healthcare for Mizoram' initiative. This will significantly reduce financial strain on Mizoram's Universal Health Care Scheme.
Infrastructure upgrades, including expanding Zoram Medical College & Hospital and Aizawl Civil Hospital, are underway. Additionally, plans for conducting kidney transplants domestically are in progress as healthcare professionals undergo specialized training.
