The Odisha government has heightened its public health surveillance after two Nipah virus cases were confirmed in neighboring West Bengal, according to Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling.
The cases involve two nurses from a private hospital in Barasat, North 24 Parganas district, who are receiving treatment for the virus.
Following a meeting with senior officials, Minister Mahaling assured that although no cases have been detected in Odisha, precautionary measures have been intensified, particularly in districts near West Bengal, to trace and manage potential cases effectively.
