WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated the urgent need for action, calling for international cooperation. Logistical challenges, including attacks on medical facilities and flight restrictions in affected areas, are hindering efforts.

The outbreak's containment is further complicated by armed conflicts in the region, notably in North and South Kivu provinces. In light of ongoing conflicts, Tedros has urged for a ceasefire to facilitate health operations, as ongoing violence exacerbates the spread of Ebola within displacement camps.
