In a landmark achievement for renewable energy, EDF Renewables has been awarded the PPP tender by Israel's Inter-ministerial committee for the development of a solar energy project. Scheduled to be constructed in Ashalim, the facility will boast a capacity of 100 megawatts, making it a critical addition to the nation's electricity grid.

Covering more than 220 acres, this photovoltaic facility will produce electricity at a groundbreaking cost of less than 7 shekels per kWh— the lowest rate in Israel's history. This project is part of a series of PPP initiatives driven by the Accountant General, aimed at bolstering Israel's renewable energy capacity.

When completed, the EDF Renewables project, combined with existing thermo-solar and photovoltaic power plants in the Ashalim area, is anticipated to deliver over 400 megawatts of renewable energy to the grid. This will significantly aid in meeting national renewable energy targets and stabilizing the electricity sector based on demand.
