Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underscored Vietnam's critical partnership in India's Act East Policy and broader Indo-Pacific vision. Speaking alongside Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at Hyderabad House, Modi emphasized the two nations' shared commitment to 'evolution, not expansionism' in the Indo-Pacific region. 'Vietnam is an important partner in our Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision,' Modi declared, outlining the alignment between the countries' strategies for a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

Modi extended his condolences to the Vietnamese delegation on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, praising his leadership in advancing India-Vietnam relations. 'Under General Secretary Trong's leadership, India-Vietnam relations gained a strategic direction,' he noted. He also highlighted the decade-long strengthening of bilateral ties, marked by an 85% increase in trade and significant advancements in energy, technology, and defense cooperation.

During their discussions, Modi and Chinh mapped out future cooperation frameworks aligned with India's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and Vietnam's 2045 vision. 'We extensively discussed all areas of mutual cooperation and agreed on several steps to prepare a roadmap for the future,' said Modi. The leaders agreed to prioritize the review and conclusion of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement and announced a $300 million credit line to enhance Vietnam's maritime security.
