In a pivotal move to fortify ties, US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday a significant increase in military sales to India, worth billions of dollars, and unveiled plans to provide India with F-35 Stealth fighters. The announcement came during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi following their bilateral discussions.

The renowned Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, a widely deployed fifth-generation fighter, was a highlight at the recent Aero India exhibition in Bengaluru. This cutting-edge fighter jet boasts advanced stealth, exceptional situational awareness, and integrated combat capabilities, symbolizing the deepening defense relations between the two countries.

Earlier, US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz met with Prime Minister Modi to discuss the enhancement of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Talks centered on strategic technologies, defense industrial cooperation, civil nuclear energy, and counterterrorism. Meanwhile, the exhibition also featured a prototype of India's indigenously developed stealth aircraft AMCA, a testimony to India's growing aerospace ambitions.
