Harvansh Chawla, Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, underscored India's vital role in the BRICS coalition, attributing this significance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership style and policies. "Due to the aura and initiatives of our Prime Minister, India is integral to BRICS this year," Chawla said.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro from July 6-7 during his visit to Brazil, occurring from July 5-8. India is in line to host the BRICS summit in 2026, with its chairmanship beginning the following year, Chawla confirmed.
Chawla emphasized that India's leadership comes at an opportune time, considering its neutral stance and significant role in international trade dynamics. Given the ongoing global tariff conflicts, the decisions made at this BRICS Summit could prove to be historic and crucial, Chawla remarked.
