In an era of heightened trade tensions, Denmark's Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, has stressed the necessity of adhering to a rules-based international order. This comes in response to recent 50% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Indian goods related to its purchase of Russian oil.
In a candid discussion with ANI, Kristensen dismissed any claims that India is a 'dead economy,' highlighting its rapid growth and ongoing EU-India free trade agreement talks. He perceives India as a promising investment destination from a European perspective, contrary to US President Donald Trump's social media assertions about India's economy.
Amid escalating tariffs, Kristensen reiterated Denmark's commitment to good faith negotiations, seeking mutually beneficial agreements. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has staunchly defended the country's agricultural trade interests, labeling the US tariffs as 'unfair' and prepared to withstand the consequences to protect its farmers.
