Cross-Border Tensions Erupt: Afghan-Pakistani Clash Turns Deadly

A deadly conflict has erupted between Afghan and Pakistani forces in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, leaving at least 12 Afghan civilians dead and over 100 injured. Retaliatory strikes by Afghan forces reportedly inflicted significant damage on Pakistani military assets, escalating cross-border tensions.

At least a dozen Afghan civilians lost their lives, and more than 100 were injured in a deadly assault by Pakistani forces in Spin Boldak, Kandahar province, according to an Afghan official. The attack has intensified cross-border hostilities, with Afghan forces claiming counterstrikes that captured Pakistani posts.

Zabihullah Mujahid, Afghanistan's foreign ministry spokesperson, accused Pakistan of using both light and heavy weaponry against civilian areas. "Pakistani forces once again launched attacks on Spin Boldak, leading to the martyrdom of over 12 civilians," he alleged in an official statement.

In retaliation, Afghan forces targeted Pakistani military positions along the disputed border zone. "Our forces were compelled to act and have successfully captured enemy posts, weapons, and tanks," Mujahid stated. Nevertheless, Pakistani casualty figures remain unverified, despite claimed damages.

By 8 a.m., Afghan forces asserted control, with Mujahid emphasizing their preparedness to defend their homeland. The Spin Boldak border, plagued by past conflicts, remains a critical flashpoint.

On the same day, unrelated clashes flared in Pakistan's Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. State broadcaster PTV News reported intense fighting, pinning the blame on the Houthis—referred to as "Fitna al-Khawarij" by Pakistani officials—with the military responding forcefully.

PTV revealed that Taliban positions suffered considerable damage, with several tanks destroyed in the Kurram fighting. Pakistani sources claim the operation resulted in the killing of a senior militant commander, yet verification remains pending.
