In the Zehri area of Balochistan's Khuzdar district, a curfew imposed four days ago continues to grip the region, wreaking havoc on everyday life, mobility, and economic activities. The restrictions have left markets shuttered, transport services halted, and roads sealed, paralyzing the town entirely.
As reported by The Balochistan Post, the curfew compounds the challenges of Ramadan for local residents, blocking access to essential supplies and healthcare, and prompting fears of shortages. Community leaders express growing concerns over the impact on vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly, as the blockade compounds daily hardships.
Haji Abdullah Azad, representing the local traders and community councils, has called for an urgent cessation of the curfew. He warns of worsening conditions with families and passengers stranded, and markets unable to function, stressing the immediate need for authorities to lift restrictions ahead of the approaching Eid festival.
