Israeli Diplomats Voice Concerns Over Pakistan's Mediation in US-Iran Dialogue
Israel expresses dissatisfaction with Pakistan's mediation in US-Iran negotiations, amid a fragile ceasefire. Israeli officials highlight distrust towards Pakistan, while the US takes defensive action against Iranian threats in the Gulf.
In a recent statement, Yaniv Revach, Israel's Consul General in Mumbai, expressed discontent over Pakistan mediating talks aimed at resolving the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Speaking to ANI, Revach disclosed that discussions facilitated by Pakistani intermediaries have inched closer to a potential agreement.
'There is currently a ceasefire and dialogue is underway between the Americans and Iranians with Pakistan acting as mediator,' noted Revach. 'It's not ideal, but we're nearing an agreement. Both sides are working through final adjustments, and clarity on the agreement's implementation is anticipated soon,' he added.
Meanwhile, tensions escalated in the region as the US Central Command reported intercepting multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones targeting the Strait of Hormuz. This act followed Iran's launch of missiles toward Gulf countries. In retaliation, the US targeted Iranian radars to prevent further aggression.
Adding to Israel's skepticism, Ambassador Reuven Azar criticized Pakistan's stance against the Abraham Accords, calling for a paradigm shift. Speaking in New Delhi, Azar also highlighted concerns over Pakistan’s anti-Semitic rhetoric and discussed broader regional issues, including the crucial role of India in maintaining stability.
