As China and North Korea commemorate 65 years of their treaty of friendship, both nations have confirmed their dedication to enhancing bilateral ties. According to China Daily, President Xi Jinping reiterated his commitment to bolster relations with North Korea during his two-day visit to Pyongyang, marking his first visit to the country in seven years.

Xi, in discussions with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, emphasized the need for close strategic coordination, describing this phase as a 'new era' for the two countries. He stressed the importance of maintaining the traditional friendship between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), despite the evolving international dynamics.

Xi highlighted globally significant changes and urged both sides to maintain long-term strategic vision by integrating contemporary elements into their traditional friendship. He argued that stronger China-North Korea relations would benefit regional peace and development. The meeting also explored increasing cooperation in diplomacy, military, and economic sectors.

Xi suggested leveraging newly reopened border crossings and resumed transportation to enhance cultural exchanges. Meanwhile, Kim Jong Un described the China-North Korea relationship as 'unbreakable' and committed to advancing cooperation across various sectors.

Xi's visit coincided with North Korea's growing military ties to Russia and occurred against the backdrop of a series of high-level diplomatic engagements involving the US and Russia with China, amidst regional geopolitical tensions.
