IMF strongly backs central bank independence, IMF chief says

​The ‌International Monetary Fund ​is "loudly supporting" the ‌independence of central banks, said Managing Director Kristalina ‌Georgieva, adding that ‌the most important task for monetary ⁠policy ​today ⁠is to focus on price ⁠stability.

She was speaking at ​a fireside chat ⁠in Singapore after delivering ⁠a ​speech previewing IMF and World ⁠Bank Annual Meetings next ⁠week ⁠in Bangkok.
