Romanian crew member suffers heart attack on-board vessel; evacuated by Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Tuesday evacuated a Romanian crew member from a foreign merchant vessel after he suffered a heart attack when the ship was sailing in the Arabian sea off the Gujarat coast near Porbandar, said the maritime security agency.
The Romanian crew member, whose identity was not revealed, was on board 'MV Gas Pisces', a gas tanker. He was airlifted by the Coast Guard with the help of an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and brought to the shore at Porbandar, said an ICG statement.
''In a swift operation, the Indian Coast Guard ALH evacuated a Romanian crew member, who suffered a heart attack, from MV Gas Pisces off the Porbandar coast, about 80km south, today, said the statement.
From Porbandar, the crew member was shifted to a hospital in Rajkot in an ambulance for further treatment, said a local official, adding the LPG tanker was headed towards Male in the Maldives from Mundra port of Kutch in Gujarat.
