India and Bangladesh border defence forces have commenced their annual coordination conference in Kolkata, discussing boundary management, cross-border crimes, and infiltration. The four-day meeting aims to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries amid recent hostilities.

In a significant diplomatic engagement, the border defence forces of India and Bangladesh have initiated discussions on various boundary management issues at the annual coordination conference in Kolkata. The conference, which started on Saturday, addresses critical concerns including boundary disputes, cross-border crimes, and infiltration.
The Border Security Force (BSF) of India and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are represented by high-ranking officials, with efforts aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and fostering cooperative spirit between the neighbouring nations. Leading the Indian delegation is Ayush Mani Tiwari, IG, BSF South Bengal Frontier, while the Bangladeshi side is headed by Brigadier General Shamim Ahmed, Additional Director General, Region Commander, South Western Region, Jessore.
The agenda of the four-day meet encompasses key border management matters, such as joint initiatives against cross-border crime, pending development projects in the boundary region, and measures to thwart illegal cross-border movements. This annual Border Coordination Conference is pivotal for resolving boundary disputes and improving border management efficiency, contributing to a safer and stable regional environment. The meeting occurs against a backdrop of recent hostilities, underscoring its significance in promoting security and cooperation.
